When I moved to Atlanta in 1970 to attend Georgia State University, the population of the city was just about 50-50 black and white. The School of Urban Life had just completed a study showing that more than 90% of crime in Atlanta was committed by blacks against blacks.
44-years later, we see the deaths of black men again headlining the news. Heather McDonald writes an article at City Journal entitled The Big Lie of the Anti-Cop Left.
Since last summer, a lie has overtaken significant parts of the country, resulting in growing mass hysteria. That lie holds that the police pose a mortal threat to black Americans—indeed that the police are the greatest threat facing black Americans today. Several subsidiary untruths buttress that central myth: that the criminal-justice system is biased against blacks; that the black underclass doesn’t exist; and that crime rates are comparable between blacks and whites—leaving disproportionate police action in minority neighborhoods unexplained without reference to racism. The poisonous effect of those lies has now manifested itself in the cold-blooded assassination of two NYPD officers.
The highest reaches of American society promulgated these untruths and participated in the mass hysteria. Following a grand jury’s decision not to indict a Ferguson
, Missouri, police officer for fatally shooting 18-year-old Michael Brown in August (Brown had attacked the officer and tried to grab his gun), President Barack Obama announced that blacks were right to believe that the criminal-justice system was often stacked against them. Obama has travelled around the country since then buttressing that message. Eric Holder escalated a long running theme of his tenure as U.S. Attorney General—that the police routinely engaged in racial profiling and needed federal intervention to police properly.
According to the FBI, there were 6,261 black murder victims in 2013. Almost all of the murderers were themselves black.
If the police, and by extension all white people, are intent on exterminating black people, why are they doing such a poor job that they have to have so much assistance from blacks?
Thought for today: affirmative action IS racial profiling.
Currently, we have liberals doing what they do best: whipping idiots into a violent frenzy and then pointing them in a direction to march. Tell me this; if it’s a racist act when a white (the police officer cases currently touted by the media) hurts or kills a black person, why is it not a racist act when a black hurts or kills a white person? – an everyday systemic occurrence in American society. Or, if you reserve a place in academia for one race to the exclusion of other races, how is this not racial bigotry? If you are a liberal, take your best shot and let me see how you dissemble or obfuscate the truth. Give me a rationalization for racial bigotry and governmental discrimination that I’ve never encountered before.
I used to be a flaming liberal. However, I listened closely to what each side was saying, noted their basis for believing as they did, and observed who was actually reporting facts and who relying on fantasy. And who told the verifiable truth about events happening around me.
“Hands up, don’t shoot” spoken by a gentle giant just before he was mowed down by a racist pig cop is pure fantasy and you know it. Obama as a constitutional scholar and a fair guy, who isn’t a socialist out to destroy America and who, along with AG Holder and advisor Sharpton, doesn’t hate whitey, is the biggest fantasy you guys have ever swallowed.
And for every one of those white kids marching on the streets in support of the latest liberal fantasy, I have a Christmas wish for their dear, sweet, unblemished souls: I hope their jobs go to obama’s illegal aliens and their place in higher education to an unqualified or lessor qualified black person. It will be fun to watch them in their thirties as they try to ascribe their bad fortune to George W. Bush, or the highest ranking white male authority figure they can find.
