Last week, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill) made a trip to the Wall in Jerusalem. Following a long tradition, he wrote out a prayer and placed in in the cracks of the wall. Tradition says these prayers are private – between the Lord and the supplicant. However a student stole the prayer, and a newspaper published it. Now, there are rumors that the Obama campaign actually leaked the prayer. Pushing all of that aside, let’s look at the prayer itself
“Lord — Protect my family and me,” the unsigned note said. “Forgive me my sins, and help me guard against pride and despair. Give me the wisdom to do what is right and just. And make me an instrument of your will.”
What’s missing? How about repentance? He claims to b e a Christian, and it’s a tenant of the faith that one repent one’s sins before receiving forgiveness.
