Bill Ayers

Bill Ayers

Bill Ayers, as has been well documented, is a friend of Barack Obama’s.  He and his wife Bernadine Dohrn were terrorists back in the late 60s and early 70s – they liked to blow things up.  And talk and talk and talk.

On September 11, 2001, while the rest of the world was watching the murder of innocents at the World Trade Center, Ayers was out promoting his book, “Fugitive Days.”

I obtained a copy of the book in a way that does not enrich Mr. Ayers.  As a favor to you, I am trying to read the damned thing, and I believe it is the most poorly written book I’ve ever seen.

Here’s a random sample – all of the punctuation and capitalization is in the original.

I was the third baby, Cathy leading the way, followed by Tim a couple of years later, and then — boom! –eighteen months and there I was, scrambling, I imagine now, for space and food in the hatchery, angling for rank in this rapidly expanding household. It didn’t take long for me to move up in the kiddyarchy — Rick came along directly, with Juan still a decade off, a kind of blessed mistake or wondrous afterthought.

Juan was not his given name, of course — no, that would be John Steven.  He acquired Juan in late adolescence when, as a school dropout, he went to work as a dishwasher and busboy in a cafeteria in California.  John Ayers, he saw right away, was not a good fit here, and so he reinvented and rechristened himself.  He’s been Juan Chicago to friends and family ever since.

For that kind of writing, I believe Ayers should be shot.  Can I issue a fatwah?

Through diligent research on UFO web sites, Paxety Pages reporter Mahone Dunbar has uncovered an undoctored photo of Governor Palin, her husband, and their new child.  As the undoctored photo reveals, the child is actually an alien hybrid.  Speaking inflatable obstacle course of the photo of the child Trig (whose actual name is Trig 1178) Dr. Samuel Bosh of Emory University said, “It is not a retard, but a perfectly healthy human-alien hybrid bouncing baby boy!”

Are you sure the photo is accurate? Dunbar asked Dr. Bosh. inflatable games “Well,” the doctor declared between pulls on a crack pipe, “it was on the Internet. Right?  And everyone knows that the Internet don’t lie!”

Even more Clinton derangement

Andrew Malcolm wrote a piece for the Los Angeles Times blog in which he expressed amazement that Hillary Clinton would not attack Sarah Palin, even though the press gave her opportunities to do so.

On Saturday in New York, reporters eager for a story about a fight between the two female politicians set Clinton up several times to take easy swings at the 44-year-old reform governor, who blew away the Republican National Convention crowd with her speech Wednesday night about her running mate, her own life and some mocking views of Obama.

But Clinton would not bite. Or swing. Not once.

“This election is about issues, and that’s what’s going to matter to people at the end of the day,” was all that Clinton would say. This despite the obviously powerful fears that Palin has engendered among many Democrats conducting nonstop, massive behind-the-scenes efforts to smear Palin’s reputation and plant negative stories in the media, with some success.

Intriguing to wonder why Clinton wouldn’t say more.

Why do you think? Gender solidarity? Friendship for McCain despite their disagreements? A sign of waning enthusiasm for her own party’s ticket? So much joy over the New York Giants defeat of the Washington Redskins in the NFL opener Thursday night?

It’s very simple, Andrew.  Hillary does everything for Hillary.  Everyone except the blindest of Obama supporters and members of the media can see that Sarah Palin is an extremely popular figure right now.  How would an attack on her help Hillary?  I don’t see how it would, and I suspect that Hillary doesn’t either.  When Hillary thinks such an attack will help Hillary, we’ll see one.

Update – Don Surber has some thoughts.

This should set off the religious left. The New York Times goes to Sarah Palin’s church and writes about her religious beliefs.

WASILLA, Alaska — Shortly after taking office as governor in 2006, Sarah Palin sent an e-mail message to Paul E. Riley, her former pastor in the Assembly of God Church, which her family began attending when she was a youth. She needed spiritual advice in how to do her new job, said Mr. Riley, who is 78 and retired from the church.

“She asked for a biblical example of people who were great leaders and what was the secret of their leadership,” Mr. Riley said.

He wrote back that she should read again from the Old Testament the story of Esther, a beauty queen who became a real one, gaining the king’s ear to avert the slaughter of the Jews and vanquish their enemies. When Esther is called to serve, God grants her a strength she never knew she had.

The Book of Esther – I’m sure this will be spun into a very dangerous situation before the day is out.  Read the whole article.  I think it is actually fair, at least from a New York perspective, but the left will read a lot into it.  I suspect the folks screaming loudest have never been to a service at a non-denominational church.
