Bob Barr hammers the Baptist Mullah

This past Friday, the Baptist Mullah, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee was speaking to the NRA when there was a noise offstage.  He said it might be Barak Obama running because someone pointed a gun at him.  As a true man of the millennium, Huckabee apologized that afternoon.  Obama had no comment, but Bob Barr did.

From the Bob Barr campaign

Bob Barr, former Member of Congress from Georgia and current candidate for President for the Libertarian Party, today issued the following statement in reaction to Gov. Mike Huckabee’s recent remarks at the National Rifle Association’s National Convention:

“Mike Huckabee showed incredibly poor taste when he joked about a gun pointed at Senator Barack Obama. His words were reckless, callous and harmful to the sports men and women of America and to those of us who fully support the Second Amendment.

“Every candidate for public office inflames the passions of people who fervently disagree with them. To suggest, as Governor Huckabee did, the misuse of a fire arm toward a political candidate is reckless. His attitude toward proper, legal and safe use of fire arms was demeaning to all of us who advocate the right to bear arms. His reprehensible use of a threatening and violent scenario involving a firearm at the NRA’s National Convention was beyond belief.

“I call on all supporters of the Second Amendment and all supporters of civil discourse in our political races to demand a public apology from Governor Huckabee.”

40-years ago today

It’s hard for me to accept, but it was 40-years ago today that Mahone and I joined eight other guys at Project 70 Studios in Athens, Georgia, to record a demo tape of our new band. We had grafted two groups, The Dukes of York and The Bluenotes, into The Fabulous Bluenotes – here’s photo of the band without the singers – Mahone on the extreme left (ha- leftist) , Juan kneeling on the extreme right, wearing sunglasses in a pathetic attempt to fight off allergies to smoke and beer and the other pollutants common to juke joints.

The Fabulous Bluenotes

Joining us was the singing trio, The Three Heads. We recorded four songs, and as long as the bandwidth holds up, I’ll leave the links up for you to enjoy. We were kind of a Stax/Volt meets Motown group that showed a lot of soul influence. Following the lead of Sir George Martin, I’ve left the recordings in their original mono.

Ask The Lonely

Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf

Baby, I Love You

Walk Away Renee

I, quite frankly, never expected us to live this long – especially Mahone.

Bob Barr announces presidential bid

Former Georgia Congressman Bob Barr announced yesterday his candidacy for President of the United States. He gained national attention as on of the House Managers of President Clinton’s impeachment. Barr will seek the Libertarian Party nomination. He says the American people are fed up with the two-party system. Barr promises to reduce the size of government, cut spending.

So far, the media presses him on how he will hurt McCain. Barr had a reply for that.

“If Sen. McCain … does not succeed in winning the presidency, it will not be because of Bob Barr, not because of Sen. Obama,” Barr said.

“It will be because Sen. McCain and his party did not present a vision, an agenda, platform and a series of programs that actually resonated positively with the American people. It also may be because their candidate did not resonate with the American people.”

Here’s a portion of Barr’s announcement on CNN

And a brief interview on Fox

The Pelosi gas price increase

November 6, 2006 was the day before the election that made Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House.  The U.S. national average for regular conventional gasoline on that day was $2.186.  Today’s price is $3.718.  That’s an increase of just over $1.53 per gallon.  Thanks Nancy.

Barak, WTF?

“Pleased with his recent victory in the democrat primary, Barak Obama mugs for the press as he enjoys one of his favorite foods that his grandmother used to serve him.”
