Run, Ricky Run

Ricky Williams

The Miami Dolphins arrive at Jacksonville's Alltel Stadium Saturday night for a preseason football game. Accompanying the Dolphins, if he's not in jail or Nepal, will be running back Ricky Williams. Ricky announced his retirement just before last season began and went on a world marijuana smoking tour. This year, he says he's ready to play football again.

Some folks question his dedication. It wasn't really tested Monday night in the Dolphins game against the Bears. He gained only eight yards in five carries.

If I were Nick Sabin, the Dolphins new coach, I'd put Ricky's dedication to the test this weekend. The Jaguars have two All-Pro defensive tackles and a much strengthened defensive line. I'd run Ricky and run him and run him. I'd be sure he got 30 - 35 carries. Let's see if he wants to play.

Will you wear him out in pre-season doing this? Who cares. He can't play in the first four regular season games because of a drug suspension. Run him now.

(Title for this post shamelessly stolen from Val)
