Jaguars Swing For The Fence - Draft Matt Jones
Saturday, April 23, 2005 By: Juan Paxety
With the 21st pick in the 2005 draft, the Jaguars took Matt Jones from Arkansas. He played quarterback there, but he will be a receiver of some kind in the NFL. A lot of folks are concerned that Jones will have to learn a new position at the top level of football, but Coach Jack Del Rio is pleased. So is Jaguars GM Shack Harris, who says the Jags will be able to create very favorable matchups against opposing defenses. Why?
At his workout in Jacksonville, Jones was measured at six-feet, six-inches. Harris says he clocked him a 4.3 in the 40. That makes Jones the size of a defensive end with the speed of Fred Taylor.
I can't wait until August 13th. That's when the Jaguars will pound the Dolphins (sorry Val) at Alltel Stadium.
