Boxer Wants To Give the Insurgents A Hug The dumbest Senator? Senator Barbara Boxer (D-Cal) appeared on CNN's Late Edition yesterday, along with Senator Chuck Hagel (R-Ne). Host Wolf Blitzer raised the issue of the Time Magazine report that U.S. officials have been in contact with some members of the Sunni insurgency. Hagel pointed out that we don't really know who the insurgents are, how many there are, and what it will take to deal with them. He thinks we need to reach out and develop some form of relationship or network. Senator Boxer, on the other hand, seems to me to think the insurgents need a hug. (Transcript here.) "...we don't know enough yet about this insurgency. And it's so critical for us to get a better grip on it, because our exit is definitely linked to whether or not we can wrap our arms around it and weaken it." Hugh Hewitt says she the dumbest person in the U.S. Senate. Maybe she is.
