Remember Scott Speicher
Monday, January 17, 2005   By: Juan Paxety

American airman missing for 14-years

Fourteen years ago today, Jacksonville based Scott Speicher became the first casualty of the Gulf War.  His FA-18 was shot down over Iraq, and he disappeared under mysterious circumstances.  Did he survive the crash of his plane? Was he taken prisoner? The family held out great hopes that the 2003 war with Iraq would lead to Scott being found.  But so far, investigators have not found a trace.

I've written about him in the past here.

Tonight, Scott's family is being joined for a vigil by the parents of another missing U.S. soldier, Spc. Matt Maupin.

"I believe we have come here today to support both Scott Speicher and his family," Carolyn Maupin said. "Also, of course, to rekindle Matt, and keep him in our prayers and thoughts as well. And to see them back. We want them back home."

The latest can always be found here.

Remember Scott, Matt and their families in your prayers.
