Hillary and Immigration
Monday, December 13, 2004 By: Juan Paxety
What's Hillary's real record on immigration?
Powerline notes that Hillary is running to the right of President Bush on the immigration issue.
But, she may have a difficult time if her last association with immigration is brought up.
Back in 1994, castro allowed a large number of Cubans to escape on rafts. Florida's Governor Lawton Chiles, a Democrat, sued the Clinton Adminstration for the costs the state suffered as a result of the federal government failing to live up to its Constitutional responsibilites to protect the borders. The federal courts decided that the issues were political, not legal.
The suit was filed in April 1994, and was decided by the U.S. Supreme Court in May 1996, but for some reason, I can't find a link to it online.
The last time the Clintons were in the White House, they blatantly failed to do anything about immigration. Should Hillary get a pass now?
