The Legacy Of Flight 93
Friday, January 18, 2002 By: Juan Paxety
The politically correct position for decades has been that we should depend on others - particularly government agencies - to protect us - and to rely less on ourselves. But one of the legacies of September 11th is instance after instance where the impotence of government is exhibited. It was the passengers and crew who stopped the terrorists on United Flight 93 from flying the plane into its intended target – it was the passengers and crew who stopped the shoe bomber – and it was law students who stopped a murderer just this week. Instapundit has an interesting article written by a UCLA professor about the bravery of these ordinary citizens.
