Cuba Cuts Off Electricity
Tuesday, June 13, 2006   By: Juan Paxety

To US Interests Section

The United States is criticized for not instantly providing electricity and water throughout Iraq (even though Saddam never did so).  Lots of the criticism has come from the press. But the press is barely mentioning the intentional cutoff of power and water going on in another part of the world.

Cuba has stopped providing electricity, and has cut back on water, to the United States Interest Section in Havana. If Cuba were a civilized country with full diplomatic relations, the building would be the United States Embassy.

ABC News reports that the electricity has been off for more than a week, but that the work of the USIS in providing information to the Cuban people continues. They are on generator power.
