Calls for release of Cuban librarians

RESOLUTION OF THE NATIONAL CONGRESS OF DELEGATES OF THE POLISH LIBRARIANS ASSOCIATION

Participants of the National Congress of Delegates of the Polish Librarians Association, who have deliberated on June 4-5, 2005, in Warsaw:

- express their protest against the persecutions of Cuban librarians, who organize independent libraries,

- demand the release from prison of fellow librarians and the remaining individuals acting for the cause of freedom of _expression, intellectual freedom and unlimited access to the intellectual accomplishments of humanity,

- appeal to other library organizations, as well as IFLA, to join efforts in the defense of independent librarians and in the support of the forming independent libraries in Cuba.

(The resolution was approved with three abstentions)
