Elian Gonzalez 5-years later

Five years ago, on Holy Saturday, federal agents busted in the door of a modest home in Miami and seized a six-year old boy.  The story of Elian Gonzalez has been told over and over, so I won't repeat it here.

The Miami Herald, today, reports on what has happened to the major players in the drama.  It's an interesting read.

The language used by writer Luisa Yanez, is curious though.  Throughout the article she refers to Elian "remaining in Miami" or "returning to his father." She completely ignores the real issue - should little Elian have been sent back to slavery in fidel's gulag.

As we learned earlier this week, Elian does not appear to be living with his father, but with grandparents.  His home is surrounded by fidel's security guards, and he's trotted out for photo ops whenever fidel needs one.
