Sick of Politics
Monday, November 15, 2004   By: Br'er Juan

There are other things to do.

I'm sick of politics. For a couple of days anyway.  Not a lot of blogging lately from me (I don't know Mahone's excuse) because I had two screenplays to write in less than a week, and I've also signed up for National Novel Writing Month. I've set myself up to writer a 50,000 word novel all within the month of November - and I didn't sign up until November 11th.  I think I'll write the thing on the Skyriter - something I can carry around.

I got sick of my diet this weekend and decided to cook some real food. Jambalaya Br'er Juan style (as least it's this week's recipe.)

In a non-stick fry pan cook a pound of good sausage in 1-T olive oil.  The mix of lard and olive oil are essential. Remove the sausage when done. Chop a medium bell pepper and chop essentially equal amounts of onion and celery. Add to the pan with more olive oil if needed. Add a chopped clove of garlic and cook about 5-minutes over medium heat. Add 1/4-t each red, white and black pepper and 1/4-t oregano. Add 1-lb. peeled and deveined shrimp.  After a couple of minutes, add the cooked sausage and 1-cup stock and heat thoroughly.  Add 2-cups cooked brown rice and stir thoroughly.  Warm uncovered to reduce the liquid. Sprinkle a little Rice Wine Vinegar (used to make sushi) over the top and mix well. Ummmm, ummmmm.
