Is Usama Dead?
Saturday, September 23, 2006   By: Juan Paxety

A regional French newspaper reports he's enjoying his virgins

Is the monster dead?  Reuters quotes a French newspaper quoting an intelligence report saying bin Laden died of typhoid. The report says he died in Pakistan last month.

L'Est Republicain printed what it said was a copy of the report dated September 21 and said it was shown to President Jacques Chirac, Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin and France's interior and defence ministers on the same day.

"According to a usually reliable source, the Saudi services are now convinced that Osama bin Laden is dead," the document said.

"The information gathered by the Saudis indicates that the head of al Qaeda was a victim while he was in Pakistan on August 23, 2006, of a very serious case of typhoid which led to a partial paralysis of his internal organs."

Should we believe this?  There have been all sorts of reports of his death that seem to have been untrue.  The report goes on to say the Saudis are trying to find his burial site so that they can make the official announcement.  Usama, of course, wanted to overthrow the Saudi monarchy, so the government has an interest.

Then there's the conspiracy side. George Noory on Coast to Coast AM speculated that this is a signal to terrorists to make attacks in the US.
