Sheehan Loves Chavez
Wednesday, January 25, 2006   By: Juan Paxety

At the World Social Forum

This year's Idiotarian of the Year (Fiskie) Award winner Cindy Sheehan is doing her best to imitate Jane Fonda, but falls far short. Sheehan appeared yesterday at a march kicking off hugo chávez's World Social Forum in Caracas. From The Guardian Unlimited we learn she said about El Mico Putumayo:

"I've always admired President Chavez for standing up to imperialism and the meddling of the American government in South America,'' Sheehan said.

Not content with bashing the U.S., Cindy also went after the UK.

"We really need to stop the imperialist tendencies of countries like the United States and Great Britain,'' Sheehan told The Associated Press.

Imperialist - sounds so 1968. Then she dragged the entire world into her fantasy:

"We have to work together as a global community to fight for peace and justice. We're all in it together. It's not just me who has lost a son,'' said Sheehan, whose son, Casey, was killed in Iraq in 2004.

The Guardian reports 60,000 people signed up to attend - other news outlets say 10,000 marched and carried lots of anti-Bush signs. Sounds a lot like these marches.

Update - A.M. Mora y Leon has more - particularly how the Cuban delegation is kept safely away from the ability to defect. Where's the Instapundit or Pajamas Media story?

Update - Cindy gave an interview to an Irish publication a couple of weeks ago and while jabbering about a lot of things, had this to say:

And about Bill Clinton . . . . You know, I really think he should have been impeached, but not for a blow job. His policies are responsible for killing more Iraqis that George Bush.
