The Media, Murtha and Iraq
Friday, November 18, 2005   By: Juan Paxety

Why are the Congressman's statements news today?

For the past couple of days, the media has been playing sound bites from Representative John Murtha of Pennsylvania. Murtha is a decorated Marine who says the war in Iraq is unwinnable and that our troops should come home immediately.

As usual, the media gives no background on Murtha's political positions. He's identified only as a retired Marine colonel or a former combat vet. It turns out that Murtha has been statements against the conduct of the war for years. Gateway Pundit has done the work.

Why, if he's been saying roughly the same thing for years, is his statement news now?
