Bonham out

Local radio news is reporting that Dean Bonham will no longer be handling negotiations for the City of Jacksonville.Questions about possible conflicts of interest in his negotiations of a stadium lease with the Jacksonville Jaguars had been raised.. Previous story is here.

There's a new website keeping up with the issue - keepthejags.com.

Update - The Florida Times Union has more - including comments from Bonham.

"This is the first time I've ever resigned from any account in 20 years," Bonham told the Times-Union shortly after submitting his letter of resignation to Mayor John Peyton, city counsel Rick Mullaney, city policy chief Adam Hollinsworth and mayoral aide Suzie Wiles.

"When you take on a project like this, you become so invested," Bonham added. "It's real disappointing. "It's the first time I've ever not completed a negotiation. This was a very difficult decison."

Interestingly, Bonham had been portrayed as a total outsider by the Jaguars (he's from Denver) but the TU story says he has a son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren living in Jacksonville. Wiles, by the way, is Pat Summerall's daughter.
