Gas Crunch Hits Jacksonville
Friday, April 15, 2005   By: Juan Paxety

SUVs driving under the speed limit

The high price of gasoline seems to have finally hit Jacksonville drivers.  My usual commute to work is along J. Turner Butler Boulevard, and I'm usually the one in the slow lane driving 60-mph (the speed limit).  I'm usually passed by everything on the road - most, I would estimate, driving at least 80.

No longer.  This morning, for instance, I had to move over and pass three Lincoln Expeditions that were driving no more than 50-mph.  The gas crunch seems to be hitting home.
