This And That
Friday, March 25, 2005   By: Juan Paxety

Posting has been light because of computer problems - my old one would simply hang up, say there was a driver problem, and refuse to allow me to resinstall whatever driver it complained of.  And the drivers varied.  So, I got a new computer.

As I've been unable to post, several things annoyed me. First, on the Schiavo matter, the callers to talk shows complaining that Florida must not have any competent doctors because Governor Bush had to go to Minnesota to find a doctor to support his position.  They are talking about Dr. William Cheshire, who gave the governor an affidavit in which he said in his opinion, Terri Schiavo is not PVS.  Learn to read, guys.  In the second paragraph of his affidavit, he says he is a neurologist practicing in Florida.  All Mayo Clinics are not in Minnesota - one is two miles from my house. In Florida.

My asthma has been very annoying this week.  Now, thanks to Val, I know who to blame.

It appears that the Federal Election Commission is proceeding with plans to regulate free speech on the Internet.  Mike at Red State attended the first public hearing on the matter and got his hands on a copy of the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking. Read his entire post.  It seems to me this is a very serious matter.  Free speech as envisioned in the First Amendment was primarily political speech.  Now the FEC wants to control it.  I plan to write a letter to my representatives in Congress.
