More interesting reading

Read this stuff:

Sue Bob's Diary on Medicaid and Cannibalism.  Her law practice is in this area, so she actually knows something about which she writes.

Doyle at A Cool Change recommends William Safire's final New York Times column.

Joe at Attaboy writes about the craziness as Jacksonville enters the final week before the Superbowl. (I'm in hiding.)

Speaking of the Superbowl, there's quite a bit of comment around town about what kind of weather we want to see for the game.  If you aren't familiar with northeast Florida, it's quite different from south Florida.  It could be sunny and 60F at kickoff, or it could be 29F with a 20-knot gale blowing.  Or it could be like the Gator Bowl played in the early 90s that was unviewable from the stands because of fog.

The Chamber of Commerce folks and the Jacksonville promoters want to see beautiful weather.  A lot of long-time residents want to see terrible weather.  Their thinking is - good weather will mean more people will want to move here, driving up real estate prices and clogging the highways.  Bad weather means they will stay away and leave us alone. I think I'm in the latter camp.

And Donnah at Florida Cracker has her weekly Wednesday Duane photo.

And Val at Babalu has a long letter that gives you A Glimpse of Cuba.
