Israel returns to the West Bank, life at TV's Fun41 - complete with gerbil races
June 6
The Israelis call on Mr. Arafat again. And hidden near the bottom of the story, as usual, are the most interesting graphs:
Hours before the bombing, George Tenet, director of the Central Intelligence Agency, met with Mr. Arafat to urge him to reform his security forces and end terrorist attacks on Israel.
According to a senior Palestinian official, Mr. Tenet told Mr. Arafat in the bluntest possible terms that if the terror attacks continue, Washington would give Israel a free hand to retaliate. Mr. Arafat was told he "will stand alone before [Israeli Prime Minister Ariel] Sharon's might" and "the United States will not intervene."
We'll see.

Folks who've done time in the TV news business always have funny war stories to tell. Lots of folks think the ones told about Fun 41-TV in Macon, Georgia are among the funniest and saddest. Here's a look at Morris Memories. Or perhaps, "Gerbils, Lies, and Unrolling Videotape."
