Not much blogging. I'm still having to work. But there was time for a new story showing another reason Atlanta was once called Loserville.
And for a rant about CBS news. On the Dan Rather show, they've begun telling stories by having Dan read a lede into a taped package, then the reporter does a live shot tag. Yesterday's Chandra Levy story (buried in the b-block - it lead NBC) was done by a reporter I didn't recognize, but I don't watch CBS a lot, so that's not surprising. The reporter talked about how the investigation will change "now that we know there has been a crime." Wait a minute. How do we know there was a crime? A soundbite from the DC police chief contained in the reporter's own package said only that they were changing the investigation from one for a missing person to one involving a death. He did not say it was a homicide investigation. The police have not yet established that a crime was committed - the reporter should not have said that - the newsroom management should have caught it before it aired. That's sloppy stuff I would not have permitted even when I was in market 134.

CNN reports a body has been found that may be Chandra Levy's. Now Fox News joins in.
48 former U.S. Senators have called for ending the embargo of Cuba - they call it normalizing relations. Here's the link to the letter and the list of signees.

U.N. Secretary General Kofi Anan says, "That a small nation is able to inspire the world and be the focus of our attention is the highest tribute that I can pay." He's talking about East Timor, a new country he welcomed to the world community today.
Perhaps welcoming new countries is a good thing for Kofi to do, but his arrogance is obvious. The highest tribute he can pay is for a country to do something worthy of his attention. Sounds like Louis XIV.
