Why The Slow Roll?
Tuesday, April 01, 2003   By: Juan Paxety

Why was a slow roll invasion necessary? Logistics, it's always logistics.

When did the battle plans change? The media pundits believe they changed in the last few days as Allied forces met stiffer resistance in the south of Iraq, particularly along the supply lines.

I think, and I'm just a regular idiot, that the change was made a couple of weeks ago when the Turks refused to allow the 4th Infantry Division to invade from Turkey. The plan had to be changed to push in the 4ID from Kuwait.

The slow roll became necessary because there was not room in Kuwait for the 3rd ID, the 101st, the Marines, the Brits, the Aussies, the Poles and everyone else already in Kuwait, to stage at the same time as the 4ID.

It was necessary to move out the troops already in Kuwait in order to make room for the 4ID.

Remember, it's always about logistics.
